Crow enthusiasts unite!

If you were made up of even the tiniest sprinkling of Goth as a teen, you’ve seen Brandon Lee’s tragic turn as the the titular character in the 1994 version of James O’Barr’s The Crow. Well, the film is getting a reboot starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA twigs.

Helmed by director Rupert Sanders ( Snow White and the Huntsman ), with a script by Zach Baylin, the film will be a re-imagining of the tragic hero.

Jason Mamoa was previously attached to the role, but this new casting feels a bit more on-brand for the spectral, eeriness of the tale. For those of you who were hugged as children, here’s a quick summary of the original comic series:

The Crow tells the story of Eric Draven, a murdered Detroit musician brought back from the dead to avenge his and his fiancée’s deaths — under the guidance of a mysterious crow.

O’Barr developed the series to work through his own grief after the death of his partner at the hands of a drunk driver. The series explores the nature of love, the power of revenge, and the thirst for justice driving Eric.

FKA twigs is an exciting casting choice for us, as her music has encompassed themes of love and healing that make the perfect soundtrack for a film like this. To see her once again in front of the camera will surely be a welcome treat.

No dates have been set for the film’s release, but we can’t wait to see it!
